Winston Ali

Embarrassed by my Trinidadian Heritage

Winston Ali "almost 2 years ago"

After last night's terrible experience at my bredrin's fete, I have to say that I, Winston Kadeem Ali, am embarrassed and ashamed of what my Trinidadian culture has become. It used to be where fetes would be get togethers of dudes and gyals and we would drink a lil (or a lot), eat some good food, wine to some soca and it'll be good old fashioned fun. Not any more I guess. I've noticed as the years go by de gyals just get sluttier and sluttier and sleep with any dude with a pulse, and guys disrespect gyals by fingering them in plain view.....this all happened at my bredrin's fete last night. The souse and roti was garbage too and d**n near made me vomit, but that's a different story. What I'm trying to say is allyuh trini gyals are beautiful and yuh should act that way, they shouldnt act like little sl*ts because you know what, that's becoming their stereotype. And the dudes need to learn how to behave theyselves because we gettin a bad rap too. We supposed to be gentlemen but lately that hasn't been the case. All i'm sayin is a fete is supposed to be good times, but should never get out of hand. Maybe I'm different because i'm actually from TNT, and most of the trinis in america have become CORRUPTED BY AMERICA.

I agree with you 100% Winston. That's how the Jamaican culture has become too and it sickens me. Now that I am older and have a son and nieces who are almost of age to start going out, I have to be extra careful to make sure they know right from wrong and don't get caught up in what's happening now.
